So, you are doing what you should be doing, carrying out the tasks that were expected of you. You are responsibly, and to a certain extent unconsciously going about your daily business.

But something has been nagging you somewhere in the back of your mind . . . "Why", "What for". You ignore it and carry on hoping it will just go away and leave you in peace. But, funny that, it's still there and it seems to be intensifying. You become distracted and irritable. "What is it?", you keep asking yourself.

The Rim of Africa Mountain Passage was born from a need to discover a destiny, to clear away the clutter and debris surrounding the mind, and expose the powerful calling waiting to burst out from every single one of us.

This is an invitation to you to take a walk of no ordinary proportions.

To walk the full length of the Rim of Afica will require at least 48 days of walking, where you will cover close to 650km of trail. We have opened the first stage of the hike, consiting of 11 days. You will be hiking through mountain wilderness from Pakhuis Pass in the Cederberg to the remarkable Turret Peak in the Koue Bokkeveld, following the length of the Cederberg and the Skurfteberg. It will also mean allowing yourself the time and space to delve into yourself and unearth the next phase of your personal journey in life.

The Rim of Africa traverses the territory of the icon of freedom - the Cape Leopard. As the trail's choice of totem, the Cape Leopard asks us to walk with personal integrity and impeccability. How do we approach our lives with compassion and where do we find within ourselves our individual human potential and act accordingly.

Freedom is an ever changing dimension of consciousness, like the wind, it blows past you, cools you, wraps around you, and is gone before you know it. Walking roots you to the wind.

Walk the Rim of Africa.

The Rim of Africa is being registered as a Trust and a Public Benefit Organisation. Your participation helps build trail linkages between existing protected mountain areas and ensures the protection of the landscape through which the trail passes by securing servitude access and purchasing land surrounding the trail for conservation.

Currently all hikes are fundraising hikes and are run on set dates. It is through these fundraising 'hike events' that we are able to fund the creation of this trail.
